FAQ
What happens during the assessment appointment?
When you book an assessment with us, a date and time will be agreed in advance. We will attend your home address unless otherwise arranged.
Your physiotherapist will ask you questions about your current symptoms and difficulties, your medical history, medication, and day to day function. We will ask what it is you would like Physiotherapy to help you to achieve. You may like to think about these things before your appointment so that you feel prepared.
We will then complete a physical assessment. This involves observing your posture, assessing your range of movement, muscle activity, muscle tone and sensation. We will also assess your balance, mobility and your ability in day-to-day activities where applicable to your goals.
Following your assessment, your Physiotherapist will discuss the findings and potential treatment options with you. You will be provided with a written summary of the assessment findings, our jointly agreed goals and treatment plan. A copy of this summary can be sent to your GP if you wish.
We will always be honest with you about what we think we can help you to achieve. If we don’t think that Physiotherapy will help, or we think that you need to be seen by another Health Care Professional or service we will explain this to you.
What should I wear?
To enable full assessment and treatment of your upper body movement and function we may ask you to remove your t-shirt/top. Please ensure you wear appropriate underwear/clothing for this. Please also wear shorts or loose trousers to enable a full assessment.
Supportive footwear is recommended.
Are you able to provide a chaperone for my appointments?
We are unable to provide a chaperone, however you are welcome to have a friend or family member present at any of your appointments.
